I bought a Bt 308 just 20 days ago.I learnt how to use it and I've noted that:(I use OziExplorer on my Pda Hp 5450)the Gps's position,lat.lon., is quite correct but altitude data are not enough correct according to my expectations.
I also use e Garmin E-map which tells me the exact altitude (5/10 mt. + o -) compared to detailed maps ( digital topo 1:10.000) on my Pda.The difference on Bt 308 is 40/50 meters higher, both at 0 mt. s/l/m than at 2000 mt. s/l/m .I have read Mike B. testing trial on web site and I have not found anynote about altitude report.
What do you think about it?.Question

there is a known bug with some receivers calculating the altitude correction from the WGS84 geoid the wrong wray around. You'll pretty much have to live with that.

I try after my Bt308 on OziExplorerCe a TomTom Bluetooth receiver, the error on altitude data is the same.
But i'm using also a spanish program called CompeGps that in the options
ask me:do your Gps, use Ellissoid altitude data? If I say yes the wrong altitude data became correct !!!!
Now I know that the bug of same (most of) Gps bt receiver is this. Laughing

Yes, they are mostly using the same chipset, so they also should expose the same error. Sad but true... Nice to hear that there are programs out there that can compensate this.
