i have tried the preloaded tom tom camera database and it has not got 3 local mobile sites on it. so i hate to think how many more are missing in the uk. |
See the previous post by AliOnHols above - if you can load them, they are unlikely to work properly.
But don't worry - the TomTom database has the variable speed specs cameras on the A14 at Kettering and ours hasn't (because they are no longer there ) _________________ Dennis

I have been able to load poi from pocketgpsworld only the ov2 file and no bmp so the icon is blank
They show up in my places
If you have the "Argos" database just click on this and it lists all the argos by closet first
Works but not perfect

The link above, although correct when you get on that page eventually, doesn't work apparently something to do with their BB software set up!
Method to get to info on 3rd Party POI's
1. Click on the link above
2. Click on icon with the ? (Top right of page)
3. Under Select Category - Customise device
4. Category - How can I install or remove 3rd party POI's
Then follow the guidance for whichever you have! _________________ Garmin Drivesmart 50 LMT-D App 5.90

And then be hugely disappointed that the speed camerasd don't work the way you might expect them to. |

My new 6001 will load an ov2 file but NOT the accompanying bmp file - not a lot of use as the generic icon TomTom uses does not enable you to differentiate between different types of poi! This was a feature enabled on my old TomTom700. _________________ cheers

thanks all | NO, NOT AT ALL.
Try running the 520 from an SD card. Copy everything from the internal drive on the 520 to a folder on your computer, then get an SD card and copy everything to that. _________________ Dennis

I'm sorry, I have no solution to offer. Maybe a new SD card might reinvigorate it? My 520 is running on internal well enough - it is a refurbished one which I got from the TomTom store years ago. I work it hard enough, but alongside a built in Renault R-Link TomTom and a 6100. If it had HD Live Traffic it would beat both of them hands down. _________________ Dennis

Considering a Go5100 to replace the XL2 IQ I have. Having looked through a lot of information provided by TomTom the main issue is about POIs.
I've read through this thread and it seems to me that it may be possible to import POIs but the new device will not recognise the corresponding pictorial file.
Perhaps somebody will be good enough to clarify this point for me and if my understanding is correct also explain whether there's any way around the problem.
Having accumulated a lot of POIs over time this really is a deal-breaker.
Thanks. |

As for as I am aware, there is no way around the pictorial issue.
You may load a POI set onto your new TT and you may navigate to any of the POIs but there can be no proximity warnings (as you are used to for the camera alerts). _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Thanks AliOnHols. I fail to understand TomTom's thinking. Surely there are many people who accumulate POIs and need to retain that information without losing any detail. Similarly, proximity warnings are rather helpful too.
Certainly it means that what TomTom's offering now isn't an "upgrade".
Looks as though I shall be sticking with what I have! |
