Not really sure why I kept the US voices - seemed like a good idea at the time! However a little disappointed - was expecting "...take the second rurn at the roundabout, and have a nice day."

Put the original CD that came with TomTom in to the CDROM drive (in your computer - anyone found using a portable CD player will be shot) - and run it. There is an option to uninstall unused languages on the TT installation wizard.

You might also be able to manually remove the language files from the card, but I would not recommend that to you.

it in fact is pretty easy to do. the files *.vif (voice information file ?) are plain text and they refer to the name of the country, the name of the voice and the name of the datafile.

names of the *.vif files are nldf.vif nldm.vif where thge 'f' and 'm' stand for male, female.

in this file you see

nederlands - Eva (NL)
data15.chk

so data 15.chk can be deleted if you want Eva to be deleted. the corresponding vif file is not required anymore.

just for fun info.

You could set up separate databases for all the speeds and but each camera into its corresponding place. You could then assign a different .wav file for each database. Shouldn't be too hard to do. ]

TTG is not capable of reading WAV files and does not recognize the file in the MAP directory, so please explain what do you mean assigning for each DB

Sorry for that, I thought this was the best thread to post that comment in, but I only realised after posting in the other.

Ah, my apologies. I don't use TTG myself, but had assumed that the POI proximity warning would be similar to that provided in, say, CheckPOInt.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

got TomTomGo today :D

upgraded to 4.40 :D

Downloaded safety cameras to tomtomgo.

BUT none of them show up on the maps???????????????????????????!!!!!!!

They're listed in the POI's 'pocketgps.....' but no icons appear on the maps.

Anyone know what I've done wrong?

I 'dragged' all the 'gatso files and all the redlight files. Should I have only dragged the 'ov2 files or a different combination?????????????????????

looking forward to my ttg going MOOOOOOOOOO when approaching traffic lights. if I can get it working! Rolling Eyes

this update seems to work pretty well. cool stuff.

There are a few snags though that probably will be worked out if I get to the right people inside tomtom.

I also saw that the routing s/w will draw a dashed line to the startplace if there are no roads. cool. at least now you have a sense where to go to, even if here is no road in the map (it happens to be a parking lot at schiphol for people working there; it's not on the map of course)

but initial verdict : good work !

Things are looking up,received the carry case today, tested the new download;all seems fine.I notice that the distance to the Speed camera is a little adrift also some spurious readings of non existing cameras on the M66.Though I would rather have warnings of ghost cameras than miss out on actual locations.
Just need the pro mount kit now. :D

Hi Juey,

Welcome to the forum.

MikeB’s article on TomTom GO Speed Camera POIs wrote:
User customisable POI databases are arranged in files (with an ov2 extension) these also come with a graphic .bmp file. Both must have the same name to work together.

You can edit the .BMP file yourself. If you have a PC running any version of MS Windows then you should have MS Paint. You can use MS Paint to colour the camera .BMP file to the colours of your choice. Save the .BMP in 256 (8bit) colour and replace the original one and you should be done. I don’t know TTGO so you may need to power it down and then restart it. Thumbs Up

Regards,

I am very happy with the new updates but there is something that I would really like to have seen which I am sure would not be too hard to include: favourite routes.

I have a favourire destination that I use but it always plots a route I don't like. I have to route via another point to get the route I want. It would be really handy if it remembered this so that I don't have to spend time setting it up each time.

Other than that, very good!!

I think this is perhaps the way TT will see it ... I know what you mean like ... but they could reasonably class it as a pointless feature Laughing
