Or should I hit PC World to get a larger card before trying to load the update and Safety Camera software.

I deleted the voices I don't use and installed the new software, and then the camera software all on the standard supplied card ok..

The standard speeds have been changed slightly, but the routing method seems unchanged. A journey I do regularly takes 4:15. The TTG used to estimate 5:10, now 4:59 (but it still comes up with a route that avoids all the fast direct A roads).

Upgrade went smoothly.

ASN now works very poorly in the Limehouse Link tunnel in Docklands (completely cuts out half way through - used to work very well).

Installed the Gatso and Red Light Camera databases easily, but have noticed loads of red light cameras being identified as speed cameras.
Lots and lots of false warnings, I presume as it can see a camera up a side street (probably fixable with the 'only warn if on route' feature).

Quite pleased with the functionality - especially given the price!!! :-)

TTG seems to warn of all speed cameras on the wrong side of the road Sad
Does any one know of a way round this? Ive tried warn only on route.

I'd prefer to be warned of cameras on either side of the road, let's face it:

1) You shouldn't be exceeding the speed limit in the first place
2) If there's a camera there, it's a prime hotspot for Police mobile cameras, facing in either direction (I've seen the police camped out on the opposite side of the road, 300 yards further down on a few occasions)
3) Because the police only put cameras at Accident black spots Laughing you should probably slow down regardless of which direction you are travelling!

If I wanted fancy speed and direction based GATSO detection, I'd buy a RoadAngel or similar; I wanted a decent SatNav for decent money, and having POI alerting is a bonus (IMHO). I take your point afitc, in that I can see the potential use for such a preference, personally, I wouldn't risk my licence to data saying a speed camera was facing in a particular direction (some of the new ones apparently do both directions) 8O

Could you advise which voice files I can safely delete to free up space for the update? Are they the .vif files, and will they create enough space on the 128Mb card for the update? Do I do this via the set-up CD or where the TTG is recognised as a drive?

Thanks.

I tried to update but got a message saying my SD card was full, so couldnt continue!
Surely this is an update which overwrites the previous version? (I have version 4.210 with the UK maps only.)

Does this mean I need to go and buy a new sd-card JUST to update - if so thats a bit unfair to TT???? OR can I start fresh perhaps and wipe it and then install the new version without problems on the existing card?
(This is something I am not so keen on doing tho!)

Did any1 else have this problem?

Put the original CD that came with TomTom in to the CDROM drive (in your computer - anyone found using a portable CD player will be shot) - and run it. There is an option to uninstall unused languages on the TT installation wizard.

You might also be able to manually remove the language files from the card, but I would not recommend that to you.

Having RTFM, I deleted all but the UK/US English files. Freed up about 12Mb - should be enough for the next couple of updates!

I can't believe you kept the American voices - have you actually tried taking directions from them - it's enough to make you deliberately turn the opposite direction! Smile I kept the English and Spanish ones, with the intention of switching to Español in order to become familiar with hearing directions read back at me! It's all well and good being able to ask for directions, I've often found that understanding the directions you get is another matter - although buying the España Maps might be an easier option!!
