When I plug my garmin into the 12v in my car and switch it on, it takes a while to load the maps. It thinks it connected to the computer and shows the computer symbol for a while then it disappears and starts up as normal. Does anyone know why this may be happening and if so how to cure it? |

This problem has now started on my new 2495LMT. I updated the maps to 2013.10 and ever since it just thinks it is connected to a computer, the screen flashes the WhereTo/ViewMap screen but then shows the icon of SatNav wired to a PC.
I have tried a reset (switch on while touching the lower right side of the screen and erased user data) but the problem persists.
Any advice? |

Are you using the lead/charger that came with the unit? |

No, but I am using the cable that came with my Nuvi 265W. The 2495LMT cable has a traffic receiver in it which isn't applicable in Northern Ireland |

Try the original cable and see what happens.
I take you've been using the 265W cable for some time now? |

That behaviour is invariably due to a faulty cable, so the advice to try the cable that came with it is a good one. I suspect the cable from the 265 is quite an old one and has probably failed in some way |

Sorry for being so long to respond
The original cable is working as it should, the unit comes on immediately, if you have significantly changed location since the unit was switched off it takes a few moments but there is no icon of a SatNav wired to a PC.
The original 265W cable is probably 6-8 years old now but it seems in good condition.
Thanks very much |
