Download the latest postcode files onto your PC, from here:
http://www.tomtom.com/updates/zipcodes/Map_885/zip.zip
Find the downloaded archive file in Windows Explorer then right-click on it and select "Extract all"
That should produce a FOLDER called "zip" with four files inside.
Copy that entire folder onto the TomTom, using Windows Explorer.
(Do not copy the original downloaded file onto the TomTom, that won't work)
Your postcodes should now be OK. |
here we go again. yet another problem with the 930.
updated to 9.401 a few weeks back and a error showed up via home after it had downloaded. i think it said corrupt file or something like that. rebooted and it seemed to work ok but not used it on the road yet. the new layout is all there with 2D/3D buttons so must have loaded ok.
today i try to plan a route to thorpe park using poi. no location found. so i try a full post code search which shows the un named road in the list. i load that which takes about 4 minutes and then it says the same as the poi no route found.
ive now updated my post codes and also theme park poi but still getting the same thing. a full street name and address works which will be fine as you cant really miss thorpe park
any ideas what could be giving me these hiccups.
thanks

Thorpe Park is a problem as there are many private roads around the car park and the map even shows the walkway to the island toll booths. There was a big discussion on this site here about 2-3 years ago and I seem to remember the concluion being that the one way restrictions were incorrect and confused the TTs. This is a map rather than an application error.
IIRC you can fix this by editing the turn and one way restrictions in the map. _________________ Drivelux |

I'm assuming with these various problems, and a new routing algorithm apparently under test, we will see a 9.402 at some point? _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

The connection to the network is "instant" as per the system status screen but none of the live services are available (Google, traffic etc) are available until the traffic bar appears and it tries to connect.
At the very least the bar should appear immediately and show it is trying to do something. |
Yep that's exactly the same symptoms that I am getting on my 940.
And coincidentally I have had no update from TT either, even though they were suppposedly ringing me back on Tuesday afternoon........... I am still waiting. |
Received a response to my support request on Friday - TT want to "repair" the device and want it returned.
Not sure that i trust them to attempt to fix it but worth a go.
I can check whether it is a simple change of SIM card! _________________ TomTom Go 540 - V9.058, Map GB & Ireland 860.3101

I've not been using my device much lately, but just noticed since the update my speed cameras are not working & the option to find the address via speech is gone!! |

All 22x22 user-POI icons are getting "squashed" to fit inside a box by the new v9.401 software.
Until (if ever) they fix it, you need to use the 24x24 icons for the PGPSW cameras. A lot of people have been using them for some time already.
Get them HERE.
Once you have those installed, next time you do an update, you need to JUST replace the .ov2 files, leave the .bmps alone _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Well today was exciting got me Go 540 back from TT after repair for the lengthy delay when connecting to live services.
Got concerned when the covering letter said that the device had been restored to factory image and I would need to update to the latest software using TT Home.
So it had Navcore 8.xx on it and live services connect "instantly". Updated to 9.43 and things were back to normal
They hadnt bothered changing the SIM card as I had suggested and it was the same device that they returned.
I assume all that was done was to reimage it and send it back.
I despair and have sent another suitable entry on the suppot case.
I will not give up on this - it is a matter of priciple now _________________ TomTom Go 540 - V9.058, Map GB & Ireland 860.3101

TomTom support are doing a very good job of ignoring the case I had - not helped by the fact that if you do not respond within a couple of days it closes the request even if you are waiting for a device to be returned after "repair".
Do TT actually want any future business? I have my doubts and this forum looks as though the tumbleweeds will be coming soon with the vastly reduced number of posts compared from the "old days" _________________ TomTom Go 540 - V9.058, Map GB & Ireland 860.3101

After ignoring my support request since the end of March TT replied last week accepting that "the device should be acting like this" and UPS came on Tuesday to take it to Netherlands for a repair.
Whether the Netherlands can actually make a Go x40 connect to Live Services on Navcore 9.xx is anybody's guess but it is good for a laugh
Problem is by the time this gets resolved one way or another the Live Subscription will have expired!!
About to dig out my 720T with old maps and radio based traffic _________________ TomTom Go 540 - V9.058, Map GB & Ireland 860.3101
