Hi, I am not the most knowledgable on GPS but I manage... I have a small pda but I want to use my laptop as I plan to install my memory map software on it, can anyone advise me what aerial/software package I might need and where the best place to buy it is please?

Does the laptop have a PCMCIA slot, if so I would look at a Holux GR-271 CF slot receiver in a PCMCIA adapter, being SiRF-III it will probably work in the cab of the vehicle without needing any form of external aerial to feed it. If you find reception is poor you can get external aerials to fit these units, Maplins do one that is terminated in a MCX connector that is suitable.
If the Laptop has integral Bluetooth, you can use a BT GPS receiver, or consider equipping the Laptop with a Bluetooth dongle to make it work with a BT receiver.
While Memory Map is great for detail, it will not produce routing information, if you want routing from the Laptop look at AutoRoute.
Finally make sure you secure the Lptop down in the vehicle, you don't want it moving around while driving as this could be very dangerous - Mike
