I can find the Navigator 3 review (April 1 2004) and the Navigator 5 review (March 3 2005) but I can't find the Navigator 6 review.
Could some kind person point me in the right direction?
Thanks. |

I had to look again twice to spot what you spotted the first time. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

Is it that different to version 5 that it actually warants writing?
There are very few differences to be honest, you get nav to Lat/ Long which might be of use, up to 100 custom POI categories can be added to the device running the sofware, a few menu screens have been moved around/ slightly altered - otherwise its the same as version 5, in appearance and use you can hardly tell the difference to be be honest - Mike |

Mike,
Then surely that should have been the conclusion of a review - that there are a few changes but ultimately it's little different from the previous version.
It is, after all, the latest version of very widely used navigational software. Not to review seems illogical to me, whatever the reason.
I've only recently bought it and used it on a couple of local trips. Even so, I've noticed that 'fastest' now takes shorter routes using residential roads which Navigator 5 didn't.
And another thing..... it has an 'exceeding speed limit' warning which Navigator 5 didn't. OK, so it's pretty useless (it can't cope with changes in posted speed limits and is too small and the wrong colour to be noticed easily) but it is a significant new feature.
Having used Navigator 6 for another trip over the weekend I've noticed several functionality changes that would have justified a review - it would certainly have been helpful to forum members judging by the increasing number of 'anti Navigator 6' threads appearing. |

Judging by the number who have read this thread around 250 are also interested in unearthing the Navigator 6 review... |

We didn't do a v6 review. The reasons were many and varied. We didn't get a release copy for a long while after the release and in the interim we got tied up with other products.
However I shall try and get an overview of V6 with the changes from v5 as an article. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi,
I also find that it is a little strange that there isn't a V6 review. I notice in the "stickies" that there is a bug collection for V5 but nothing similar for V6.
All this gives the impression that the Pocket GPS World team have little interset in V6. Is V6 a better and more stable product? i.e. Have the bugs that were in V5 been fixed and does it run on the same hardware.
V6 is the only version now available to new users. How are thay to judge whether it's a good product or not? |

Darren,
It's an unfortunate omission in my view but thanks for offering to rectify it. |
