Hi
I have installed the application but in Current version "Unknown" yet in Last checked it says "Saturday, August 12, 2006 - 17:14:18"
Any idea what I have done wrong?

Hi Ash, looks like another bug for you...
I turned on my Laptop this morning and it informed me that a new Speed Camera update was available, so I put my SD Card in and used POI loader to update it... so far so good. However Camera Manager is still prompting me to update at about 20 minute intervals.
After running POI Loader:
As you can see the time is 9:43.
The Camera Manager Screenshowing last check was at 8:00 (this was when the new database was downloaded):
It may or may not be of use but I use this Laptop to update 2 i3s. One I have here, the other I do not have access to at the moment. Is the repeated message coming up because I have not updated both i3s? If so then I would suggest that an option is made available to allow users to say if they want to be prompted to update all SatNavs they have ever connected or just until they update one. It was my understanding that the message should be cleared as soon as POI Loader was opened, not after the update had taken place.
UPDATE
Sorry Ash, worked out the problem. It looks like Camera Manager does not recognise the updated POI Loader that was released earlier this week (sorry I don't have the Version Number). I have reinstalled V 2 and it works fine.

It seems to me that every release of POI Loader after 2.2.1 has introduced more bugs than it fixes.
Personally I'd stick with POI Loader 2.2.1 (and 2.7 Firmware ;) )
If it ain't broke, don't fix (or upgrade) it... |

The directory to use is automatically picked up from POI Loader's settings - but if you've never used POI Loader before, it will default to c:/
If that's the case, I'd recommend that you create a new directory (like c:/poi for example), and move the generated files (5x bmp, 5x gpx, 1x zip) into that directory - then run POI Loader and point it to your new directory (make sure that POI Loader is set to Express and Miles/Ft).
You'll only need to do this once (and only if you've never used PI Loader before) - after that, it should all be automatic. |

I have a Nuvi 310.
Sorry, these are probably a really numb questions:
Which PGPSW databse should I use if I'm then going to use Camera Manager?
I've downloaded Camera Manager and have then gone to POI Loader. If I then go through POI Loader should I choose Express or Manual? If Manual should I choose to be alerted based on speed or distance?
I would still like my Nuvi's speed camera icons to show the speed limit of the road I'm on.

You don't - Camera Manager automatically downloads the correct one ;)

Express. And make sure that it's set to MPH and Yards/Feet.

The icons will just show the type of camera - the red banner across the top of the screen (well, on the i3 anyway) will show the camera type, database reference number, and prevailing speed limit.
Using the default setup, you'll get a "bong bong" as you approach a camera location. As you get a little nearer, you'll get another "bong bong" - followed by a repeating "ping ping ping" if you are exceeding the posted speed limit 8) |

I already have data files in my 'speed camera' folder on my desktop. Can I assume that I had the right type of database in their already then?

After Camera Manager has done it's stuff, it will save the following files to your POI directory:
PocketGPSWorld Speed Camera Database.zip
PocketGPS_UK_Gatso.bmp
PocketGPS_UK_Gatso.gpx
PocketGPS_UK_Mobile.bmp
PocketGPS_UK_Mobile.gpx
PocketGPS_UK_Redlight.bmp
PocketGPS_UK_Redlight.gpx
PocketGPS_UK_Specs.bmp
PocketGPS_UK_Specs.gpx
PocketGPS_UK_Temp.bmp
PocketGPS_UK_Temp.gpx
If you've got other speed camera files left over in there, it's probably best to delete them (or move them to another directory) - otherwise your Nuvi is going to get a little confused 
Make sure that you don't delete PocketGPSWorld Speed Camera Database.zip, as it only gets downloaded when a new version is available ;) |

OK, I downloaded the latest PGPSW database earlier today so I've moved the older files (thank God for being able to list by date last modified) into a different directory. I've just run the POI Loader and will wait to see what my trip to Wiltshire will provide for me.
Just out of interest if I wasn't using your software and went down the manual route of uploading the 24 different file camera database and selecting the distance based alert just how many 'bong bongs' would I get?

The default behaviour of the i3 (and presumably the nuvi), is that you'll get a "bong bong" and an icon/banner on screen but only if you are exceeding the speed limit. You'll then get a repeating "ping ping ping" but only if you continue to exceed the speed limit.
If you're under the speed limit, you'll get nothing - no "bong bong", no icon, and no banner - which kinda makes you wonder if the thing is actually working... 
With Camera Manager, you'll always get a "bong bong" and an icon/banner on screen regardless of your speed. You'll also get a reminder "bong bong" as you get a bit nearer, with a repeating "ping ping ping" if you're exceeding the speed limit 8) |

Hi Ash, awesome program...
Can/how does one change the folder in which the camera files are downloaded to? My Camera Manager window 'POI directory' is currently set to 'C:\' and I'd like to reset it to 'C:\Garmin\POI' so I can find it easily and keep unwanted stuff from my root folder? |
