|
|
Navigon have loaded their shop with the new version 5 of Mobile Navigator.
Major changes include the abandoning of the mapexport in favour of the Clevermap concept (you get all the maps on DVD but have to pay to get them unlocked) and the extension of map coverage to eastern Europe and parts of the Middle East.
So far the new version is only available in the german store but we think they'll also adjust the UK store soon.
http://www.navigon.com/site/de/de/shop/consumer
Price is 249€ for the base version, and there's also a migration offer available if you want to trade in your existing system. _________________ Lutz

Wow. Its gone from about 180euro's to 380euro's to get complete european coverage (same countries, not including the new countries like Greece), no bluetooth. Its possible that this includes SD cards but thats of no interest to owners of large cards already. |

Here's the link for the english speakers for the upgrade version - apparently available from €49... if you can get the link working on the page...
I can't. |

In fact, as our German friends have already realised, its cheaper to buy MN4 european edition (228euro inc) and upgrade it to MN5 - all europe maps included- (129e total =357e)
than buy MN5 and the Europe maps (129+299=428euro) |

You can just as well buy from the Germany site, all country specific versions are sold.
Not that I will be. A 87% increase in price for european coverage (228 to 428 euro) is way, way to much. |

actually the new NAVIGON 5 is not available yet!
I've just phoned with Navigon and they told me the product will only be available from end may begin june on... This is just a lame marketing trick to get as many people as possible to buy their product cause as most of you will already know, tomtom is comming with version 5 of it's software mid may
My conclusion, the navigon software looks great indeed but I don't trust a company who uses such dirty tricks to sell their prodct.
NAVIGON NOT FOR SALE... IT's PRE-ORDER that is available |

I've bought the software only version - with British Isles maps - for 129 euro. Also got a free pen!

Hi,
I got a Navigon Blue media PNA a couple of weeks ago and want to upgrade to the MN5 from the supplied MN4.
I have looked on the navigon site and it makes no mention of an upgrade fopr the Bluemedia PNA.
Will the pocket PC version work on the PNA or do I have to wait for a particular version for the PNA?
(New to sat nav and don't know how I lived without it!)

This is only for the software, it does not include any maps. |

Upgrades to make the software work should be free.
What we are buying are the maps, not the software to display them. I wish more emphesise was put on the quality of the maps over bells and whistles in software. |
