Hi - I'm running TomTom on my iPhone with UK maps. If I want to 'upgrade' to the Western Europe (or any other) maps, will my settings, favourites etc be applied to the new app, or will I need to set it up from scratch? |

There is a file called mapsettings.cfg which holds things like favourites and recent destinations. if you make a copy of this before you upgrade the app you can then add it back later if it goes missing during the process.
You need something like DiskAid (now imazing) to let you play around with these files on the iPhone.
With this you can also add in your own POI sets to the app, including the speed camera database from here (if you're subscribed obviously)
Like with most things tomtom, don't take anything for granted, so if its important back it up first! |

The UK and Europe Apps are totally separate so you can't "upgrade" from one to the other as it were. |

If he buys and "installs" the Western Europe app it will install with a new mapsettings.cfg file of its own, a blank if you like.
Any personalised settings won't be there.
This new map settings.cfg file can be replaced with the equivalent "saved" mapsettings.cfg file from his original UK app.
Most, but possibly not all, of the settings and favourites will then be available in the new Western Europe app.
You just need to ensure neither of the TomTom apps are running on the iPhone whilst you attempt this. |
