|
|
I have just had confirmation from TomTom that the new version of TomTom GO software (and I assume the Palm Software as well) will be released on August 12th.
I am not entirely certain what the full contents of the upgrade will be, but the main feature (as far as we are concerned at PocketGPSWorld.com) will be the inclusion of customisable POIs, this will also include an audible and visual warning system as well.
I can confirm that the PocketGPSWorld.com Speed (damn I mean Safety) Camera database works fine.
We will provide more news as we get it. _________________ Mike Barrett

that's cool news ! I'll monitor the site here at that time.
I am btw trying to get ahold on anyone within tomtom's development/customer support for some additions.c ahnges etc but the answers I get are hardly useable _and_ the don't get answered within the suggested frame of a few days. it takes weeks and I receive non-info
Maybe I should start calling them first what's going on. |

I don't have any trouble getting replies from TomTom.
I usually get a response within 24 hours. |

that's weird. I never ever have received one answer within the normal timeframe. do you use a direct mail address or do you also have to fill in the awful webbased stuff ?
I have questions that are unaswered for more than a week. I do receive after a few days that they try to answer within 48 hours or so but that they haven't gotten that far yet. I also found out that they do not read the questions very well.
it might be a different support team doing your questions, I am getting dutch responses. |

do the testers know if the new software also has a correct(ed) gps signal lost time. now, it reports only hours to a maximum of 24.
it also seems that the gps receiver isn't powered in standby. this would decrease the TTFF a lot I think. (and the attery would last shorter though) |

Well one more day to "Go" for the "Go" software update.
i wonder if TomTom are true to their word?? and it will get released. Or as in some cases, you get a statement " We have had to delay release due to unforseen circumstances".
Tomorrow will tell. |

It's our experience that TomTom's release dates do slip like most companies, so I wouldn't hold up too much hope for tomorrow, but it will be good if it is released then! |

as the tomtom support in the netherlands doesn't answer in a timely matter, I decoded to call them. I am 5 minutes on hold and if I have answers to the questions I have asked, I also will ask them if the release will be tomorrow or not.
stay tuned. |
