Hi,

I create my own POIs and keep them in master lists as .xlsx excel files. Each master list has a number of columns for longitude, latitude, POI name, POI telephone number, incremental ID, creation date, last updated, confirmation date, etc.

I also have columns where formulas creates URLs to show the location of the POI on Google maps and also TomTom. The reason to do this is to show the actual location of the POI (Google) and ensure that the POI is on a road that TomTom is aware of.

I would like to do the same for Garmin, which uses Here Maps. However despite Googling I've not found how to write a URL to point to a location on a Here map. Here're some examples of URLs for Google and TomTom, together with the formula for creating the URL:

Google Maps URL
https://www.google.com/maps/place/49°13'52.2%22N+2°14'01.2%22W/@49.231168,-2.233678,17z/
data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x0!8m2!3d49.231168!4d-2.233678
Code:
="https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query="&B2&","&C2

TomTom MyDrive URL
https://mydrive.tomtom.com/en_gb/#mode=search+viewport=49.231168,-2.233678,16,0,
-0+search=%7B%22input%22:%22Jersey%20Pearl,%20main%20entrance%22,%22coords
%22:%5B49.231168,-2.233678%5D%7D+ver=3
Code:
="https://mydrive.tomtom.com/en_gb/#mode=search+viewport="&B2&","&C2&",16,0,-0+search=
%7B%22input%22:%22"&SUBSTITUTE(D2, " ", "%20")&"%22,%22coords%22:%5B"&B2&","&C2&"%5D%7D+ver=3"

NB. The above URLs and formulas do actually work, but I've had to add extra carriage returns to allow them to display nicely in the forum. If you want to try or use them them then copy them and remove the carriage returns.

Key to above
Cell Description
B2 = Latitude
C2 = Longitude
D2 = Name of POI

Can anybody help me to do the same for Here maps so that Excel can create URLs to show whether a POI is on a road known to Here?

Regards,

Thanks K,

I'm happy with the URL to link to a location on Google maps, it's Here Maps (for Garmin) that I want to create a URL to show a location.

Regards,

Is this what you mean??

https://wego.here.com/?map=54.00562,-1.45049,17,normal

Where you have lat, lon and zoom level.

If you want a position marker:
https://wego.here.com/location/?map=54.00562,-1.45049,normal

If you also want to name the marker (at the top left of the screen):
https://wego.here.com/location/?map=54.00562,-1.45049,normal&msg=Name%20of%20POI

You can omit the ,normal if you wish.

Well you did better than me! I gave up after a while - just couldn't figure out a way to get it to work...

ALthough I did realise that I need to update the mobile POI site to replace 'Nokia mas' with Here maps!!

This info will be very helpful!

Blimey, the base of the POI marker moves around a lot depending on the zoom level!

Yes it does. I think that the default zoom level is 15 when displaying the marker and the marker only seems to be displayed in the right place when using zoom level 15 or above. If you want to include the zoom level in the link you can use:

https://wego.here.com/location/?map=54.00562,-1.45049,15,normal

If you use any number other than 15 it seems to display the chosen zoom level briefly and then revert to zoom level 15 when it displays the marker.

Thank you K, M, dales, and pcaouolte! Not Worthy

Using the following Excel cells:

B2 49.231168 (latitude)
C2 -2.233678 (longitude)
D2 Jersey Pearl, main entrance (POI name)

I use the Excel SUBSTITUTE function on the POI name text (cell D2) to replace spaces with %20 for Expanded URL Encoding.

Here's the Excel formula
Code:
="https://wego.here.com/location/?map=
"&B2&","&C2&",normal&msg="&SUBSTITUTE(D2, " ", "%20")

Which creates the following URL to show a named location on the Here Map
Code:
https://wego.here.com/location/?map=
49.231168,-2.233678,normal&msg=Jersey%20Pearl,%20main%20entrance

Once again, many thanks for your help!

Regards,

+1 Thumbs Up

So MaFt, will you be adding Here Maps to the various PGPSW map options for showing POIs and cameras?

Regards,

Once I've got today's database released. School holidays, autism and crash-course swimming lessons really mess with work schedules!!!

Here maps is now on the mobilepoi site.

The mobile version of the site seems to place the POI marker better than the desktop...
