Hi all from a newbie so be gentle. A few years ago I had one of the first Satnavs (TomTom) and in the bottom corner it displayed the speed limit for the road and the speed that I was traveling.
When that speed was exceeded the icon flashed and there was also an audible warning.
The car I have now has got a built in Satnav so I am looking for some sort of unit with a warning system similar to the one on the Tom Tom is anyone aware of such a unit.

I think that most satnavs do this. Garmin deffo do.
It's not a good idea to rely on the speed limit from the map data as it's often wrong. Best look out of the window for those funny round signs with numbers on them. They are the definitive and most up to date info. Very Happy

Words of wisdom there!

I was testing (i.e. learning) my new Garmin yesterday, so I had it and TomTom GO Mobile app (iPhone) both on windscreen mounts.

It was worrying how often the two disagreed what the actual speed limit was. Neither was right 100% of the time so don't trust your SatNav for accurate speed limit information.

Don't forget that the map data will almost certainly be six months to several years out of date. The speed limit could have been changed the day before!

Regards,

It really worries me when people only run two satnavs together. Best of three, I always say!

I have 3 devices on the go but not all setup for navigation:

1) Built in Alpine unit for navigation as it does a good job

2) Garmin for digital traffic and displaying upcoming cameras (volume off)

3) Phone running CA, bluetooth to the car that announces the cameras

Both the Alpine and CA cause the audio to temporarily mute while instructions/warnings are being announced.

Proper job

Smile

Gerraway!! I have THREE for navigation. When people ask why three, I say "Look at me, I'm an Elderly, I get lost easily and these get me home".

I don't waste my iPhone on navigation, I use it for CamerAlert.
