As I've mentioned before, mine is coiled, against all the advice, and cable tied to the inner drivers side dash metal support, to hide it, and it just works.

i have my cable coiled near the power socket, then run along behind the bottom of the dash to the corner where my unit is

at home it can take a while to pickup but then we have poor signal in our spot, but once uip the road it picks iup the traffic.

connect unit to mount when switch on ignition (adaptor always plugged in)

Coiled near the power socket is against their advice.

I've been very lucky as my dash support seems to be acting as an aerial booster.

I did at one stage have another power lead to my dashcam near the coil and that killed the signal as well.

Needs to be on it's own, away from any other electrical source within an inch I've found

This was during routing, you can see the coil cable tied to the metal support:

The other wire is my dashcam before I re-routed it well away.

Means I can semi-hide the cable:

It only way or have it coiled at mount end. But it coiled where it is so can keep lead tucked in on center console so not all over the place

Yes, catch22.

Coil and have bad reception or use it as an ugly open aerial.

The only way to check is to look at the reception bars on the Apps, traffic screen. I'm getting 4 out of 5 bars and don't have an issue.

I wired a female power socket under the dash so it's all hidden at the power end.

I have my Driveluxe 50 LMT-D mounted in the centre of the dashboard and the cable runs straight down to the power socket by the gear lever (I have tied the excess cable in a loop by the power socket). I haven't checked reception as I had just assumed it was working, but I'll check it tomorrow and see how it's doing.

Mine is also mounted in the centre of the dashboard and powered from the socket near the gear stick. I bunch up the excess cable and shove it down the gap between the passenger seat and the centre console. Never noticed any reception problems but haven't specifically looked for any.

Same - have mine running from the powered mount that comes with the DriveLuxe range which is coiled by the passenger seat and never had any reception issues. It does take a few mins to come up with traffic info but it's fairly quick.

Old thread I know, but I have found my traffic much more reliable now that my Fiesta van with a heated screen has been replaced by a Transit without a heated screen. Seems to pick up much more and be more accurate in its timings.
