:D
HELLO PEOPLE I AM VERY NEW TO THIS GPS SAT NAV GAME,
I HAVE JUST BOUGHT A IPAQ 2210 WITH TOTMTOM 3 AND GLOBALSAT 308 BLUETOOTH RECEIVER, I AM HAVING HORENDOUS PROBS WITH MY NAVIGATOR FREEZING EVERY 2 MINS- AND DISCONNECTING FROM BLUETOOTH RECEIVER.

I HAVE JUST BEEN TO THE TOMTOM WEB SITE AND THEY HAVE INTRODUCED AN UPDATE FOR THE TOMTOM 3 SOFTWARE CALLED TOM TOM 3.03 NOT (3.01)

HERE IS THE LINK http://support.tomtom.com/uk/updates.php

I HAVN'T USED MY SAT NAV SINCE I HAVE UPDATED TO VERSION 3.03 BUT IF ANY1 DOES GET IT AND TRY IT PLZ LET ME KNOW IF IT HAS SOLVED THE FREEZING ISSUE WITH THE IPAQ 2210.

tHANK U

Hi there. Version 3.03 is not new. Please refrain from using all capital letters. It is considered shouting (and not appreciated).

Have fun browsing the forum before you post anything.

To clear the freezing issues make sure you upgrade the iPAQ ROM to 1.10 and install the TomTom 3.03 and TomTom GPS 3.03 upgrades.

try not to display POIs and see if the freezing continues.

Hi there

I have already upgraded my rom to v 1.10 from the hp website as soon as i received it.

I have also installed the tomtom gps v 3.03 although previously i had deleted the tomtom gps bit of software from my ipaq as i thought it was only relevant if ur using a tomtom gps receiver?

I have installed checkpoint v3.2 is this ok should i remove that also?
Thank you

the TomTom GPS driver has nothing to do with the hardware you are using. It is simply TomTom's engine to attach to your GPS receiver, whatever brand that may be. TomTom Navigator will not run without it's GPS engine.

You don't need GPS 3.03 though - older version will work too. But the older GPS versions have issues, specifically blocking the BlueTooth stack.

You don't need to remove CheckPoint just yet, but you should try running TomTom without CheckPoint. Many of the lockups have been attributed to the number of POIs that are loaded in TomTom.

Before and after any installation make sure you do a soft reset !

Hi all

After installing the tomtom 3.03 onto my ipaq 2210 - i still have the same problems of ipaq losing connection to bluetooth (globalsat BT308) every 50 yards and also tomtom freezing even though the BT308 is still picking up signals, the weird thing is i have a signal on tomtom of 6- 9 satelites and then boom all of a sudden the thing freezes-------any ideas anybody.

would be greatly appreciated :D

Would i be better off using my ipaq with a wired gps receiver rather than a bluetooth one i currently have, would it solve the freezing issue in tomtom 3?

can you confirm that you have upgraded both the Navigator and the GPS to versions 3.03 ?

(Of course using a serial receiver would solve the problem, but that would be accepting defeat - not something a real geek can live with...

I am using the same type of ipaq on te same rom and s/w versions however to date my system has not hung once with bluetooth. The only difference I can see it that I am using Tom Tom's own BT GPS unit. I have tried it in my jacket pocket wandering about the city and also in the car for long journeys without any problems. I use checkpoint only but am still using version 2.0.2.0.I do not have many poi's set so maybe that is the problem area. Is anyone else using ver 3 of checpoint an are they getting any problems.

Wheream1 - Unless i've missed it somewhere, you haven't said what type of memory card you have your maps installed to.

I recently had a Tomtom (latest firmware) BT receiver than worked faultlessly on my 2210 with a Panasonic SD card but would lock or freeze regularly if I used an inferior card.

If you have a poor (or even medium) quality SD card, spend some cash and upgrade or use CF memory for your maps.
