I can't see a section devoted to the Snooper range of Sat Nav's. If there is a more suitable group, please tell me so that I can start a thread. Sorry to mention this again but I need some constructive comments from you all.
I am very dissatisfied with TomTom solely because of the inability to add my own POI's and Speed Camera notifications to the same, or even better standard as I could a few years ago. As for the navigation side of it, I was quite happy.
I've owned a Garmin 2699 for around 8 months and, even though I am able to download and install all the POI's I require, the navigation is extremely poor. I have mentioned this in another thread here but quite simply, it takes me off a major road on to totally unsuitable unclassified road only to rejoin the same major road around a mile further along saving less than a tenth of a mile. The unit seems to think that, because all the roads concerned have the same speed limit, I should take the unclassified road as it is marginally shorter. Firstly, the road is totally unsuitable to maintain the same speed as the major road and secondly, it takes a lot longer time-wise.
I have tried several changes in the set-up including 'Faster Time', 'shorter distance' and 'less fuel' but the route is the same. I mentioned this to the rather unhelpful 'helper' today and she said that I should report it to the mappers. I told her that I had tried that three weeks ago but an error was thrown up when I pressed send so I sent Garmin the details. The helper said I should try again and report what was happening and where. It happens at several places. Am I to report each one?
I phoned Garmin help line this afternoon (the third time in as many weeks) due to the fact that the car charging cable is apparently not recognised as being a genuine one (even though it is) because two weeks ago, they firstly said that they'd send me a new unit but then, in the same phone call, said that they'd send me a new cable first. Two weeks on, it has not arrived. It was "out of stock" I was told today.
So, what about the aforementioned Snooper Pro S6800?
