Hi, Can anyone help please, When I try to get either of my sat navs to use the FM radio function, the car radio will not hold the frequency for more than 5 minutes.

I set the sat nav and the radio frequencies to the same mhz. The sat navs immediately start using the radio speakers. No problem. I drive for 5 minutes down the road and the radio switches itself back to a radio station such as Smooth radio, or classic.

how can I stop the radio from doing this. Even for a silver surfer im a bit long in the tooth and my hearing is not quite what it used to be. Its nice to hear the sat nav instructions easily while still concentrating on the road.

Thanks

Is it possible that you have your car radio set to interrupt with traffic/news alerts? What happens to the SAtNav voice once the radio has kicked back in? does it start speaking from its own speaker of remain silent trying to transmit to the radio?

hi There. Thanks you your reply. I turned everything off on the radio. AP TA and something else. When the radio switches back to a music station the sat navs continue using their internal speakers and the radio speakers produce white noise.

Anyway spent some time messing about with it yesterday and it appeared to be picking up interference from certain areas of the dashboard. Then tried setting the sat nav frequency to 87.9 prior to setting the car radio frequency. This let the sat nav find the radio as opposed to the other way around. This appears to have worked with my iGo8 sat nav but not the Tom Tom Go520.. Anyway I drove around for about 20 minutes and the sound was still coming through the car radio. on the IGo8 sat nav. So fingers crossed.

My car has bluetooth (Blue and me) Specific to Fiat Doblo's, and this also picks up the MP3 player which starts playing as soon as the ignition is turned on.
To be honest im not sure exactly what I did or why it started working correctly. Im away in my camper van tomorrow till Sunday but i will try the car again on my return and will keep you posted.

I would also like to get the sat nav working in my camper van but i cant find anywhere on the radio to bring up individual frequencies.

Thanks again for trying to help, it really is very much appreciated.
