I've had my trusty 720 ever since they were first released. It works perfectly still and I usually have the latest maps, depending on when I get offered a discount on the Map Update Service!

I use the PGPS Speed Camera database and have numerous custom POIs on my unit, a customised splash screen and car cursor.

I was thinking about changing for maybe a Go 500 which, as I understand it has free lifetime map updates, as spending £35 or so each year for map updates on my 720 seems like dead money.

I have all the original packing, box, etc for my 720 and it could make £70 or so on ebay. Add on a couple more years of map updates and you're soon heading towards the cost of a Go 500....

But, horror upon horrors, reading up on here reveals that the Go n00 series has no custom POI support..so no PGPS cameras either, I assume? :-(

I quite fancy the slightly bigger 5" screen rather than the smaller display the 720 has. I have been a bit out of touch with the model ranges since the 720, so not sure just when support for custom POIs was dropped...

Can anyone suggest which model might suit me as a replacement, or should I just keep hold of the 720 until TomTom announce support for custom POIs on the Go series or will I wait in vain?!?!!!

Unless it has changed recently - the new TomToms don't support custom POIs and thus PGPS camera database

There are several threads in this forum on new models e.g Link & Link

I have had a similar scenario and I have bought a Garmin 2547LM.
It has a 5 inch screen and lifetime map updates.
It does not have Bluetooth or an mp3 player or fm output, but it does work very well as a satnav.
It took a bit of getting used to but I do now trust it.
I do use the gpsw camera database and have learned, with a lot of help from members here, how to load the database using poi edit.
Hope this helps

Thank you for the replies to date...

Have seriously considered Garmin too.

TomTom must be loosing sales as a result of their decision. Do they never read these forums?!!
