Hello!

I have set 90km/h for the safety screen opinion. It works nice, but why don't I get any voice instructions, when the safety screen is activated.
I was driving with a speed of 100km/h, and the safety screen was on. Of course I could see, that the next turn was coming after 500 meters, but no voice instructions was coming. When I was at the junction, where I should have turned, I passed it and TomTom recalculated me a new route.

Is it so, that the voice feature is not working with the safety mode screen, or is there some problems in my product? I'm using a Ipaq 3630 with a 256 CF-card(Kingston) and TomTom wired GPS(silver).
The GPS software is 2.07, should I use still that, or upgrade?

Roy

Hi Roy,

There have been problems with the safety screen reported on this forum by myself and others. You may want to read the posts on...

http://pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=8419

I reported these problems to TomTom on 1st June but so far (despite three further attempts to get an answer) I have not received an answer.
As soon as (if ever!) I do I will report their answer to this forum.

Tom

Got a reply from TomTom this morning.

They sent me gps 2.90 to try - didn't make any difference.

They also suggested turning off POI's - no difference.

Also stopped using CheckPoint - no difference.

The problems occur using the safety screen (preferred speed) and alo under 'hide map' which effectively brings up the same screen. In effect the redrawing of the screen doesn't occur properly or freezes - and the voice commands dissappear!

Ahhh! back to the drawing board.

Unable to check this at the moment as I'm in Ireland for a couple of weeks (no map cover).

I seem to recall that the last time I used the safety speed feature set at 72mph, it worked ok. No problem with the voice prompts at all. I will try it again when I'm back in England.

Hi,

Got sufficient confidence in TT3.03 that I loaded it on my 3950 over TT2

Works fine BUT I have to exit programme on finishing and restart again when I want to use it again, say the next day, or even if i switch off, otherwise it may freeze. But start from scratch and all is fine.

On my 2210 this is not a problem - I can just switch off the pda and leave CheckPoint and TT3 loaded.

Someone published the 2 config files to remove and TT will reconfigure these on a new launch. I would like to try this on my 3950 in that I used the 'upgrade' over TT2.

Help please,

Graham

You should always EXIT TT, before you shut down your PDA,

I have just come back from a long "road test" and set the Safety Screen Speed as low as 25mph and have to say that it appears to be working perfectly - excellent! Thumbs Up

So how are you supposed to set a route from your office before you get to your car?

I suppose I could take up sprint running to ensure that I get to my car before my PPC has a chance to go to standby?

Or perhaps I should by external battery for journies between car and office?

I can set a route "offline" and setting a route then closing TT and reopening it when I'm in the vehicle doesn't cause the route to disappear or prevent correct functionality providing the BT Rx has a lock first. You must, however, close TT prior to switching off the BT Rx or I get all sorts of difficulties, usually solved by a soft reset.

Have I misunderstood ?

Well first of all this has nothing to with BT for me as I use a wired connection.
However your point is a route is preserved even after TT has been exited is a good one. I'll give it a try. I'd always assumed that if you exited the application then a route would be lost.
