Hi, I updated my XL last night and now I have no custom POI's even though they are still showing in the map folder. I tried putting them in the map folder again but still they dont work.

Any ideas on what is causing this issue please!

Isn't there an icon for Show POIS on map? If so, are your custom ones checked?

In what way don't they work?

They don't work with Warn When Near, or they're not visible on the Browse Map screen.

Was it your Map that you Updated? Are the files in the Map Folder that you are currently using? Or in the Folder named map.

In Browse Map Options there is a Points of Interest 'tickbox' for Map Detail Preferences.

They aren't visible when you go into 'browse map', so not able to tick them. When you go into the map folder they are clearly there.

The problem is I didn't back it up before I did the update!

It's in the actual Western Europe map folder where all the POI's are. I have tried copying the poi.dat file and the crpoi.dat from a colleagues identical tomtom to no avail.

poi.dat and crpoi.dat are for the built-in POIs, they're nothing to do with your own POIs sso don't wate your time on that line of experiment.

Not sure what you mean there. You don't tick them on the browse map screen. You tick them from a list in Change Preferences/ Show POI on map. DO they appear in that list?

And to avoid us second-guessing, can you give the file names of ALL the files for one of your POI categories and the folder name where you've put them

For example, if your POI was for donut shops, I would expect to see two files:
Donut_shop.ov2
Donut_shop.bmp

Both of which would be in a folder called "Europe" or "United Kingdom" or something similar.

Finally, if none of that works, do you want to send those files to someone here by email so someone else can look at them?

Sorry for the delay in my reply....

The folder is the map folder, Western and Central Europe.

All the files are the standard .ov2 files, I have been downloading speed cameras off here for the last 5 years and they don't work either. Even though they are in the said western europe map folder.

the poi.dat file and the crpoi.dat file were indeed missing after I did the tomtom home update. I copied them from a friends similar device but as mentioned above this wont work.

I tried ringing tomtom support but they were clueless.

Hi Andy

I just found one of your replies on another forum and it's done the trick!

Aha! That old "Home makes another c*ck-up" scenario!

Well done for finding that. Wish I'd thought of it... (again! Laughing )
