Have you tried to d/l a different set of POIs to see if that file is also 'dodgy'. It might be worth a try.

after you select 'France' are you clicking on the 'Refresh POI List'?

are you combining the subcategories into a single file?

have you tried the 'show link' option?

what format file are you requesting?

Have you tried the suggestion shown under the Download button?
Quote:
[use 'show link' if you have problems opening the file once downloaded or it appears to be empty]

Edit: Oops. Beaten to it by MaFt!

If it's a normal Zip file then right click it in XP and select 'Extract'.

As Kremmen says... no need to use WinZip. Just using the built-in Windows extractor should work, so that removes one variable while we try to work out what's going wrong.

I'm intrigued now... can you email me the zip file you downloaded to MaFt AT pocketgpsworld DOT com ?

I want to see if there's an issue with the zip file or if it's a winzip issue.

I found a similar thing. Instead, I checked the "Show link" box. That means you end up with a link to the ZIP file. Click that and it downloads. I've found that I get the file correctly each time I do that. If I don't check the "Show Link", it automatically downloads, but I get an un-openable file.

Hope that helps.

Isn't that one of the ideas that MaFt suggested in his first answer? ... and also what Anita suggested?
