Which Garmin Zumo 220 or 550?

Although I've been riding motorcycles for many years I've only ever used a GPS in my car. But I'm now thinking of buying a Garmin Zumo for the bike - either the 550 or the newer 220. Price wise they are both available for around £300 but I'm not that familiar with the specs or advantages of one model over the other.

So I would be grateful for feedback from any experienced Zumo owners as to which I should go for. I have to say that the older 550 looks more solid, but as the 220 is smaller it would be easier to slip into a pocket when the bike is parked.

I would also be interested to know whether you advise operating on the Zumo's batteries, or is a power supply necessary? The 220 battery life is shown as up to 8 hours.

I don't know the 220, but my 550 has been superb and ultra reliable. It has mobile phone connection and MP3 player - neither on the 220.

It also has a car kit - so does the 220. But the 220 doesn't seem to have audio out - only bluetooth, so I don't know how you connect it to devices such as autocoms.

If they are the same price, go for the 550.
