Origin Blue i problems ?

I have had an orginal Blue i for about 18 months now that I am generally very happy with. (I drive 50k per year and together with this and a Bell 550 has kept me point free - touch wood!).

However I am now having a problem with the LCD screen for the second time since having it. The screen fill's up with black blocks leaving just a small visible area on the left. The first time it happened it was under warranty and they fitted a new screen, now I am very annoyed it has happened again within 6 months and is now out of warranty.

This seems like a weak point on this unit, so I am wondering if any other users have expereinced the same problem?

I had a similar problem with mine, but eventually the display disappeared completely.

I'm sure I remember though, after Origin speedily replaced it, they extended the warranty on the unit. (Don't hold me to this!)

Its worth contacting them about it, as they are most obliging with every query I've ever had. I shortly afterwards upgraded to the Origin B2 (with the offer they were doing) so didn't have my Original Origin for long to see if the same problem re-occured.

(I think when I had the problem, it was due to the unit not being secured well enough, and moved when going rather hastly round a corner and just might have knocked against something).

I had this problem and think that it was probably due to overheating caused by the the unit being cooked by the sun. Sad

Fortunately it was still able to alert me to the presence of a camera on an unknown road at night. :D

I now have a b2 which because of the shape and colour is less likely to absorb as much heat, and is also easier to mount where it is less likely to soak up the rays when the car is parked.
