Question about data usage

Hi,

I've just downloaded the software and am looking forward to giving it a try. My question is: What kind of impact will Telmap have on my data usage? When does it access the internet and for how long at a time?

Hi Jason,
Telmap5 will access the internet any time you:
- do a search for something
- display a map
- download a route for navigation

The internet connection is live only while you are communicating with the server - a matter of seconds.

For navigation the internet connection is only live for about 10 - 20 seconds. During that all the information you need for that route is downloaded to your device and is stored for the duration of the route meaning you will be independed of the wireless network until you reach your destination. Even if you take a wrong turn, Telmap5 will continue to guide you without needing to reconnect to the network.

We have found that data usage runs at 1 - 2 MB per month for a user who navigates about once a week. Of course that can vary depending on how often you navigate and how long your routes are.

So then what is the "Phone Data" widget telling me?

So far I'm liking the App a lot. Traffic info does not seem to be available in Canada.
