Hi JLW,

I’d ignore CF type, and just think about either Bluetooth or wired. If you don’t want to move the set-up from one car to another very often and want high reliability then go for a wired receiver. If you will use the set-up in more than one car on a regular basis then Bluetooth is the answer. Personally I use Bluetooth, but I have a wired receiver for backup! Wink

Once you’ve decided on the type then you can use the PocketGPS World comparison database for the features that are important to you.

For wired, I’d recommend the TomTom one, which is a rebadged Leadtek 9532. For Bluetooth, I recommend that you look at either the Fortuna Clip-On, or the Navman 4400 (I think that’s the right model number), which looks a good receiver. Thumbs Up

However, it’s your choice. 8)

Regards,

I think the fortuna clip-on is the best one for me. But i read on a forum that the ST mode was not so sensetive like others. But what a ****. Smile

Hi JLW,

XT mode is more sensitive than ST mode. But it’s a trade off as ST is better for faster speeds. I have to admit to never using XT, as ST is fine for me. In urban canyons, where satellite lock-on is decreased and speed limits are in the region of 20 to 30 mph then XT is apparently a bonus. XT is also good whilst walking.

I’ve seen 10 satellites whilst using my Fortuna Clip-On (in ST mode) with TTNav. Thumbs Up

Regards,

Bluetooth was the way I went and never looked back. Fortuna Clip-on is great, my first Rikaline X7 was rubbish and I had it swapped for the Fortuna. BT GPS works great in most cars, even with reflecting glass.
