I use TT7 on my PDA, and am thinking about buying a TT device. I am going to Florida next year, an I am trying to decide whether to buy a UK device, or buy a US device as they are so cheap - £60 for a TT One 125. Can anyone offer an opinion?

Depends on how flexible you want the unit to be. For example, the 125 you mentioned is the the lowest end model sold in the States (the Start is not available in NA). The 125 has a map of just the United States.

But it won't work back in Europe without the purchase of additional maps. And if you do purchase a Western Europe map, it will be the one to fit a 1 gb sized drive, meaning some detail and many pois will be left out to make it fit.

Just things to consider.......

Thanks. If I buy one in the states, I will either look to using it in the UK or sell it when I get back. If I buy one in the UK, I will have to buy US maps to go on it and am not likely to use them again for some time.....

I guess I may have just talked myself into buying a cheap US one when I get there, unless someone knows of any reason not to. Which is the "lowest" US model that is most suitable if I did want to use it back in the UK?

Can I add US maps to all UK Tomtom's, or do I need to start from a specific model upwards?

Sorry if im missing a big point here, but you say you have TT7 installed on your PDA, so why not just purchase a USA map which will work with your current equipement, without the need to buy a separate device.?

Hi, your not missing the point. That is an option for the US maps, but I am also considering a buying TT unit as well so want to weigh up the options there.

Why not buy a go920 or 930?

They have both USA & UK maps installed.

They are a bit expensive for me, unfortunately. Can I put the US maps on any Tomtom?

Yes, you can purchase a US map but for some models you'll have to remove your European map to create sufficient space.
