When using MapSource City Select Europe v6 ....

When using MapSource City Select Europe v6 with the Garmin GPSMAP 60C, will it take all UK coverage in its 56MB memory? Question

And if it does, will it slow it down than say using two map squares?

Hi,

The simple answer to your first question is 'No'. The whole of the UK, including Northern Ireland but excluding the Isle of Man, is about 103Mb without automatic rerouting, or 152Mb with. If you can do without NI and Scotland, including the Scottish Islands, this comes down to about 90Mb without or 133Mb with. You still get a but of SE scotland, it's just the way the maps are partitioned.

I can't answer your second question.

Wow that was quick! Thanz Tim, I shant be putting on Scotland, Wales or N.I.( unless I am going there) so I will just put on the Yorkshire areas and see how it goes....... Thumbs Up

Yeah, just put in the areas you need. They don't have to be joined up either. You can have Yorkshire and London map areas (or Amsterdam) and it will route between them using the "base map" which contains a rough map of the main roads and motorways. When you get to a detailed coverage area it will switch to the detailed map automatically.

The main drawback is that the scale of the basemap is such that it supplies only the basic detail and it can show roads and intersections as being 500 meters away from where they really are.

O Wow! So goin2 London town from Sunny Donny Yorks I can say miss the belly out and therefore feed more info into the boot end... the stomach being either the A1 or the M1 BON! Gosh I wish I 'ad sum cash I wud certainly open a Garmin shoppe!
