I will look for other audio files. The noise I get is about 200 yards before the speed camera so it is not an overspeed warning, just a warning the camera is coming up.

Thanks guys
Doug

iGO8 notifies of a speed camera from about 900 to 400 metres depending on your actual speed then at 200 metres gives an overspeed warning if you are over the speed camera limit, so I still suspect it to be the overspeed warning.

Sorry, another question. If !alert5.wav is the overspeed warning, what is used as the long way away warning? Perhaps that's the one I need to change.
In my data.zip file I have 1-5 alert files and one number 2a. This I think was !alert7 or even the original 5 but I renumbered it to avoid overwriting it. Are there 7 alert files in the folder or just 6 and I need to delete 2a?
Thanks
Doug

iGO8 uses !sectionbeepA and !sectionbeepB, one at distance and one when under 200m with no overspeed, I can't remember which is which.

iGO8 has !alert1 to !alert6, six files.

Thank you for that info. I will look at those then.

Doug

Later. Used a free AT&T speech maker to make my own sounds and replaced those three files in the Data.zip file. Where's a speed camera when you need one!

And still gives out the horrible squeal even though I have changed all those sounds! Must be getting them from somewhere else. Any ideas guys?

This has really stumped me. I have changed all these sounds but the damn thing still makes this strangled sound. Are we sure that the Becker sound files are the same as the IGo 8 ones? I am not convinced.
Thanks
Doug

Anyone help me please? The only thing I don't like about this unit is the warnings for speed cameras - like a constipated duck!!!

Doug. Has the Becker got the software on SD or is in in internal memory?

Hi. On it's inbuilt 4 Gb hard drive. The wave files are in a zipped DATA file. I have replaced the three files I was told were the ones and get a shrill sound from the speaker. Has me stumped!
Thanks for your thoughts. Perhaps I ought to ask Becker but it has taken me about three months to try and get a promised map update nearly sorted. Had to write to the Chairman to get it looked at!!

Do you have an SD card in it with any Becker stuff on it. I think that the software looks at the SD first for stuff (bit I am open for correction)

Hi. There is a SD card in the slot but have not looked at that. Might be something on there. Will have a look and come bank. Thanks.

Hi again,
There is a IGo 8 folder but it is empty. So back to square one!
