A new PDA(after dropping my trusty Mio A701 in the canal) and a new set of problems:

Memory Map will only communicate with the GPS receiver via the Windows (6.1) interface (com2) this seems to get out of sync so that the position only updates every couple of minutes or so. I have tried every com port at slow and fast baud rates, I have adjusted the track update speed to various settings but nothing seems to work satisfactorily.

I wonder if I need to update MM but base don comments on this forum I dont really want to upgrade....

TomTom is also unhappy, even when it is updating position on the map (and correctly announcing turns) it thinks it isnt in communication with the gps and so the status bar says flight mode no gps data, ie no info about how far to go, eta etc.

On the A701 I found interfacing direct to GPS was more succesful than via windows but on this unit I dont seem able to do that. Is this Windows 6.1 taking over? Maybe i'll try a hard reset?

hi, have just got a Glofish X900 and loaded tomtom nav6. problem is that it always says "waiting for valid gps signal". Do you have TT Nav6 on your X900 and how did you get it to work? would appreciate any help!!

No my TomTom still isnt working properly. It always says that it is waiting for signal even though it has one and updates the position as you move. It does give directions but never gives a status bar.

To get this far I have allowed windows to manage the gps (Settings, External GPS - program port COM2, Hardware port Com4 and manage gps automatically ticked. Then set TomTom to other NMEA receiver, 57600 on serial cable on com4.

Hi, I followed your suggestion and now Tom Tom works fine, it gives directions and shows signal on status bar as well. FYI I am using Tom Tom Navigator 6.
