map updates

I have an old tom tom 700 which is registered with their website. I have subscribed to the map updates wich is working fine. My question is, can I download the new maps to my wifes tom tom without paying extra for this

No. Maps are registered to an individual device. As well as breaking the licence agreement, you would also find that the new map wouldn't work on the second TomTom.
