Hi there
Like an idiot I thought that I knew all the things that could go wrong with my device and ‘Home’. Wrong.
I have just downloaded the new map with no trouble at all. However, when ‘Home’ gets to stage two (install) it runs ok for about two minuets and then an Error Message comes up on the screen. If I click on ‘Give Details’ the reason comes up as follows.

ERROR: DesktopLib/InstallToDevice/GetInstallable/InvalidArchive2: Invalid archive:
C:\Documents and Settings\User\
MyDocuments\TomTom\HOME\Downloads\complete\map\
Western___Central_Europe_2GB\Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB.zip

4. chrome://tthome/content/logic/dllUtils.js:62

I have downloaded twice but to no avail. Can anyone explain please?

Can't explain, but you're not alone...
Same error or very similar messages
HERE, HERE,HERE and 2 or three more.

Right at the top it says its something to do with an invalid archive, so it seems to be a corrupt download for some reason.

Just overloaded servers, maybe? TT have a long history of being unable to cope with demand when they release a new map...

Hi Andy_P
Thanks for replying. I’m sorry that I failed to check the forum for other users suffering from the same error before starting a new topic, I will pay more attention next time. I will follow the other Post’s about the subject and see how things go. I am in no particular hurry.

I had a similar type of error when trying to update an earlier map - it turned out that my hard disk on the computer was short of space...

Might be worth checking - Tomtom support were as much use as a chocolate teapot and it was just by chance that I noticed the disk was nearly full.

Hi Froggy
No, I have plenty of room on my Hard Drive, but thanks for the advice.

Had a recent problem downloading failing well into the download caused by a USB 2.0 hub connected to the computers 1.0 port. If you have a USB hub gioving additional USB ports try connecting your TOM TOM direct to the computers USB port.
