Just updated my old 730 to 8.301.

One thing I noticed is that I didn't notice before was that with RDS/GPRS on the 730, traffic congestion now comes with an average speed (all be it on Kph) which is missing on the HD traffic.

Has this been on RDS/GPRS before 8.301? Confused

Enhanced Positioning Technology. Basically the 920/930/940 have accelerometers that enable the device to track where it is when a GPS fix is lost.

Have just come back from my first trip out of any distance suince the update to 8.301.
150 miles - Felixstowe to Huntingdon and back.

Katie had a stutter for the first few miles on the way out - but quickly lost it.
Screen lag was noticeable to start with - but stopped 'lagging' at same time katie found her true voice.
RDS/TMC wouldn't latch on for a few miles- but thereafter did (approx 12 miles) which was roughly same time as Katie got better.
Bluetooth to phone worked fine - clear speech when making a call.
Music played fine using the aux out cable.

Touch wood - my 720T is (at least temporarily) ....OK.

You mean that hands free works in oz? Wait for me, I'll go with you.

Sorry DennisN, already boarded the plane.

Anyway after my mammoth flight to Oz I can give you all an update:

Hands free still doesn't work
Kate still stutters
Map lag is still there
My RDS-TMC receiver can't lock on to Classic FM even if I manually tune to 101.1
Why is this new Australian map I had to buy upside down?

The wife is a bit miffed that I have emigrated just because TT promised it would fix all of the problems with my 920.

Is there some kind of special day this weekend or something?

It is sunny though which is a plus.

Andy

I have looked into this case further for you and it appears that the release of application version 8.301 was made before the emulator was updated in TomTom HOME. Therefore currently when trying to use Operate My Device you may receive the message that the function is not yet supported. We will be releasing an update shortly that will resolve this. We apologise for the inconvenience.

Absolutely typical! Why, oh why, will TomTom not test their updates before release? The idea that they release an update and not the update for Home at the same time beggars belief: it causes mayhem amongst users. Who runs the company - trolls? Just as an aside, you get the same message when trying to send the device a location from within Google Maps - says the device is not supported at this time. One pace forward and three paces back then.

Here is a post from a member of a US forum. Don't know if it'll work for others:

The update to 8.301 does break the "Operate My GO" function in TomTom Home on the PC, but there is a fix that has worked for me on a GO 630:

You need to delete the files in the extensions folder located here:

x:\Documents and Settings\"user name"\Application Data\TomTom\Home\Profiles\"*.default"\extensions

Doing so will force Home to download the needed files when you click on Operate My xxx. Be aware though that TomTom in it's infinite wisdom has named some of the files with a ".chk" extension which Microsoft identifies as being orphaned file fragments created by the chkdsk utility which scans and repairs your hard drive. If you have a maintenance program that cleans up clutter and debris from your system these files will be deleted causing an error or the message that this option is not supported. Just add that folder to the exclusions list of you maintenance program and everything should be OK or better yet mark the files as read only.

Its hard to break a habit of a life time!!
I have used TomTom now possibly getting on for 8 or 9 years with the old trusty PDA. TomTom were atrociously bad then, and not one single thing changed from then until now, sad really Rolling Eyes

I've just upgraded my Go920 to application version 8.301 and have lost all spoken responses. Neither the normal voice or the computer voice now works for routes I input. Also if I try to download new Computer Voices from the TomTom site under home they are all labled "This item cannot be used with this current version of the Tom Tom application on your device".
Does anyone have a suggestion on a solution.

Does anyone have additional computer voices on their tomtom? I have been having trouble with them since "upgrading" to 8.301. Basically my portuguese and italian voice now just read from the english instructions. So they end up speaking english with a portuguese or italian voice... Quite annoying
