Sorry if this has been covered but I can't find it.....

I have just updated my 520T firmware 8.3 with Western Europe 8.15 on a 2gb memory card. My problem is that no POIs are displayed on the map even though I have checked the ticks are correct in the relevsnt menu. It does however flag up the speed cameras as usual.

Strangely if I switch back to my original version of UK & ROTI map they are all displayed correctly.

Is it something I need to do on the memory card?

Thanks

Are these built in poi's or custom ones? If custom ones, did you copy over the .ov2 files from your previous map?

They are both pre installed and custom. I have copied the POI files including the OV2 from the built in memory (UK & ROI) to the 2GB SD card (Western Europe).

Looking at the POI files in the two folders they seem to be identical.

Even the little house icon is missing from my home location, all very strange. Edited to say that it's back now but the others aren't.

I have now foun out that the only POI icons shown on the amp is for Pocket GPS World mobiles i.e. the icon with a white background and a black camera.

But I just can't see any difference between this POI and all the others ????

You say you have WE 8.15 but is the UK & ROI also at 8.15?

If not, the reason may be that the poi file in 815 is not compatible with earlier maps. Believe I read that somewhere.

Check which map you actually have active?

I have upgraded the U & ROI to 8.15 and now ir shows the same problem as the WE 8.15.

All I did was copy the *.bmp and the &.ov2 files from the original 7.xx UK & ROI to the new folders. Is this not correct?

I'm getting more and more confused....

I installed UK&ROI 8.15 onto the main memory and it shows the same problem i.e. no POI icons. The POIs are there as I can search for them. They are enabled in the show on map menu but just are not displayed.

I have tried deleting out all the POIs from the map folder and downloading a new set from PGWS site but still they won't display.
I (v7) they are there again.

Does anyone have further info suggested above about the POIs not being compatible with firmware 8.3? It seems unlikley though as not even the pre-installed TomTom POI icons show up.

I had a similar problem a while back. All the camera POIs were selected on the "Show POI category on map" menu, but they weren't showing up on the map.

I finally realised that "Points of Interest" had become unticked on the "Map detail preferences" menu (Browse Map / Options).

I suspect Anita may have hit the nail on the head (hopefully).

The standard ov2 format POI files from here certainly work in both v7 and v8, so its not that.

Thanks but unfortunately that did not work as the POIs are selected on in the browse map option.

Jusr to be clear the POIs are not displayed on the normal navigation view as well even though they are selcted on in the Preferences / Show POI on Map.

However, it knows the POIs are there as I can browse the map to one and it's icon appears in the sub map display. But when I select it the normal map is displayed again without the icon.

Another strange sympton is that the icons for speed cameras pop up at the correct distance with the sound effect but are not displayed in advance. I can set this up with all the other POIs e.g. my local Budgen store pops up when wthin 300 yards but is not normally dispayed.

I have selected the Rest to Factory Settings option and that didn't help either.

If I switch maps back to the original 705.1480 hey presto the POIs are back in all views so it only applies to my 8.15 maps.

Sorry for the long winded post but this is driving me potty.

I have made some progress. I deleted all the POIs from the 8.15 maps and then just added one Budgens.

It worked and displayed the icon as it should do. I then added back in about half my normal POIs including the PGPSW speed camera database and it still works!

I don't know if there is a different limit on POIs with 8.15 maps or some other conflict but it's working OK now.

If I get time I'll keep adding POIs until I find the limit or conflict.

How many POIs did you have installed?

I had this problem no poi showing even though it was selected. Try un-selecting and then re-selecting, this worked for me
