Can anyone tell me where I can purchase a set of allen/hexagon keys for removing the back off my tomtom rider etc. They seem to be a special type !!! .

Also can anyone suggest whether it is best to leave my tomtom RIDER continually on charge via the tomtom mains charger when not in use for long periods ( I don't use my bike during the Winter) or should I leave it run down completely until I come to use it later.

Any help on the above would be appreciated.

Maplins sell a range of different types of tools for opening these fasteners known as Torx heads - probably best to take it to the shop to get the correct size unless you want to purchase a set of Torx bits.

As for your battery problem the device contains battery management that will shut the device down before the battery damages itself through being discharged too far, just remember that it will need a full charge when you get it out of "hibernation" - even when switched off a TomTom isn't fully powered down, it is simply in sleep mode waiting to be woken up. I would put it somewhere safe and leave it until its needed and certainly not connected to a charger - Mike

Thanks Mike.
I have successfully replaced the battery after going down to Halfords and purchasing a torx screwdriver. I removed the 4 screws and the back cover. The battery was attached to the back cover with some adhesive!!. and it's lead plugged into the main tomtom board.
Just unplugged the lead prized the battery off the cover, Attached the new battery and plugged it in, replaced the cover and bingo it worked and charging OK. In al it took me about 6 min.
As far as future charging I shall take your advice on board.

If anyone else is contemplating changing thier battery but are a little worried about doing it themselves the MDSbatteries do a replacement and return
shipping for approx £25 inclusive.
See site; www.mdsbattery.co.uk

Thanks again
