Hi

I've just been given an O2 XDAII and would like to know if TomTom or something similar can be installed on it.

I have 2 Bluetooth receivers and both pair up OK

I tried to install a version of TomTom (6.02 I think) but the software couldn't connect to the GPS device. Typically it would "hang" at the point where I was allocating a COM port (any of them, I tried the lot) and then for some reason it would reboot itself.

SO...I looked into it all a bit further.

I am led to believe that there should be a GPS Control Panel, which I can't find. I've even installed a Registry Editor (which I'm comfortable about using) and where the Registry was supposed to show that the GPS Control Panel was hidden (for me to change to "show") there was nothing.

Is this device compatible with GPS at all or is it all from a bygone era and I shouldn't be holding out any hopes?

Thanks

Martin

there isnt a gps pannel on the pda OS

go to the setup screen in tomtom then select other wired gps select com5 i think it is from memory and then select a baud rate of 38400

this should work provided you have a legitimate version of nav 6

you could use other application such as direction navigastor 8

or coplilot 7 which should run ok that machine also

Hi Alix

Thanks for the reply

My "Wired" doesn't give me a baud rate option, nor after a little "hang" does it offer up any COM Port options. As a matter of interest, for the "Other NMEA Receiver" my COM options are:
Infrared Port
BT on COM6
Serial Cable on COM1
COM9
COM2
Serial on USB

So no COM5 even if I wanted it.

But thanks for responding anyway...

Martin

What OS have you got running on the XDA is it WM2003SE or have you or someone else flashed it to run WM2005 or even newer? - Mike

Its not that easy to scare us....

First off have a read of the first post in This Thread by Lutz which will explain your problem.

Next go to This web site to download the necessary files to sort the problem out on your unit (I hope) - Mike

Thumbs Up Glad to hear it is working, but I should apologise for not offering that advice earlier - it was only when I re-read the thread that the penny dropped! - Mike
