Hi guys I'm a total newbie so please help me if you can. I have an Ipaq rz1710 with a tom-tom gps attachment. It is currently running ok but I want to upgrade the maps. In the "show version" information it states the following info: tom tom navigator, pocket pc device, app version 5.000(4890), free ram 5.6mb, gps driver v1.20, map 'great-Britain-map' v562. I want to know what version of navigator it is (I suspect v5 but am not sure) what versions can I upgrade the navigator & maps to and what do I need to be able do it. Any assistance would be very welcome – hope you can help - Dave Shocked

Welcome to the forum, you look to have the initial TomTom Navigator version 5 software on the device, the last decent vs5 PPC software was 5,21 which you could upgrade to for free but other than adding the ability to run other plug in application it isn't worth it.

TomTom Navigator version 6 is an option to consider although the last maps for use with that are v675, whilst these are much newer than the ones you currently have, they are still well over 18 months old. To be honest I would wait a little longer or look to alternates to the TomTom package on the PDA, unless they sort out the latest maps for the PDA it really isn't worth bothering spending your cash on at the moment.

Also your PDA might struggle to run the newer applications it never was a very fast device to start with and is a tad shy of memory. It has often been said that TTN6 needs a processor speed of 300MHz, your 1710 only has 203MHz - Mike
