Hello People,

I am having problems finding the info but...

Is it possible to export the track log from my nuvi 255 to my pc to view at a later date on google maps or google earth etc. I would like to keep a weekly trip log from driving round europe in the truck.

Alan.

Don't know if the 255 keeps a track log, but I use Garmin's Mapsource to download tracks from my 760.

Do you have a map with an unlock code? If so I think you can get Mapsource to work with it. Mapsource can be downloaded from the Garmin website (Support/Updates & Downloads).

I dont actually have a map on the pc but the map code shows up on the "my garmin " page

so the map etc is on my nuvi. mapsource tells me to install a mapsource product.

This is really annoying because today i found 2 speed cameras that werent listed. saved them on the nuvi and cant even get at the co-ordinates for them either.

beginning to think i should have stayed with my old streetpilot.

thanks for the pointers though people very much appreciated.

Just a (not very confident) suggestion - I know that integral maps are treated differently from those supplied on DVD:

Can you connect your Nuvi to the PC with Mapsource running - if so, is the 'import' option available on the Mapsource tab (or is it 'greyed out'?). If it is you might be able to upload your map. Then (possibly!!) update it and download again if you want to.

If you look like getting anywhere with downloading, make sure you back everything on your Nuvi up first (don't forget hidden/system files). But as I say, I'm not at all confident.

Can you select a point on a map on the 255's screen, and if so are coordinates then shown? If not, are there any options you can select with the map displayed which might do this? (I've had a look for the manual but there's just a Quick Start one which doesn't say a lot at all). In my ignorance I would have thought if you can have a track log there ought to be a coordinate capability.

m0nbr:

Just found a reference which may be of interest/use to you. I came across it in the thread

.

The reference is for loading Mapsource without maps, and seems to provide a means for getting unit mapping into it. You might like to look at it anyway:
