I'll ask TomTom why the update is not available if it does not appear today!

Now available in HOME.

Installed on my 720. No obvious problems - so far!

Same here. The icons seems to be a little lighter than before.

Evni'n All,

Just updated to V8, (after taking the obligatory backup) and so far no probs, I have an ALG icon but told my map wont support, as I was aware.

So far I have not seen anything else like IQ icon etc. Oh and I thought the base menu colours were to be changed as well, but they are still the same.

I've updated to 8.010 and I have lost (as I presume everyone else has) the compass option, does anyone know how I can access my compass options?

Thanks.

Yeah, go back to N7. Sad

Who knows why TT removed that functionality and if they'll ever put it back with a further firmware update.

Hi could someone help with this. I have a one XL europe and I do not have enough free space on the device to install Navcore 8. What are my options? I thought I would delete some unused voices but I can't find the files.
All the best Steve

You could use HOME2 to delete any number of voices. I remove things like the postcode files, update the software and then reinstall the postcode files.

It's still present albeit in a reduced capacity.

Change Preferences | Status bar preferences | show compass (third page)

The compass is gone, what you can do is enable a rather feeble pointer that will always point North, this is found in Status Bar Preferences on the third page of checkbox options - Mike

Well since the update TomTom Traffic via GPRS no longer works for me. Tried downgrading and that does not work either. The error implies my subscription has expired but it runs until late December.... any ideas?

I had a problem with Automatic Speech Recognition not working in 7.221. On Monday TomTom support had me upgrade to 7.481 and all seemed to be working fine. Today Home reported 8.010 was ready to download so I allowed it. Now there is no option to use ASR although in the Quick Menu settings you can choose it but it doesn't do anything. Has it been removed, moved elsewhere or is my installation screwed up?

Is anyone else having any problems downloading the software? I have not been able to download it or the GPSFix all day today. It just gives me a server error.

When you say "devices upgraded to v8", do you mean just v8 software or v8 software AND maps?

In other words, do you think my Go720 with v7.15 maps going to support the new MapShare options for example?

At the moment the only thing that x20 users get is navcore 8. The new mapshare features (turn restrictions etc) do work fine. Also 7.20 and 8.05 maps do share the mapshares (tested here as I own both 930 and 920).

The ALG and IQ routes don't work, because there is not IQ or ALG mapdata in 7.20 maps.

I think it is safe to assume that x20 owners will be offered v8 maps during the next map upgrade, which should appear (early August).

I have connected my 720 to HOME, but was not offered v8. I have the info via http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/navcore/navcore_8.010.9369.gox20.cab but not sure why HOME didnt offer it.

Thanks for the replies, I've gone back to 7.481, I see no benefit of upgrading to 8.010 and I won't be buying any new maps especially after the ones I bought in the past (for my 700) were smaller in size and contained less detail as my previous map.
