I currently use TT on a mobile in the car, but as I use it a fair bit for work, and 2/3 trips per year throughou Europe I have been thinking about getting a proper stand alone unit, however I also want to use occasionally on my VFR bike, so was thinking of tucking into a tank bag, and using a bluetooth headset to be able to take the occasional phonecall and listen to mp3's and of course hear instructions, but will the unit pair with both a phone and a headset?

The TomTom 720 will not connect to the Cardo Scala Rider Q2 motorcycle headset via bluetooth. It won't connect to another bluetooth headset (non-motorcycle). It seems to want a HIFI capable bluetooth device.

The 720 can output navigation commands to a user specified FM channel. The Q2 can pick this up. You can then connect your phone to the Q2 to receive calls. The 720 will also connect to the phone via bluetooth at the same time to use GPRS and pick up traffic. These too are 'spoken' over the FM channel.

It's not perfect, but it sort of works. The 720 FM transmitter is very weak, though. It works better when it's plugged into the mains.

You could always get the TomTom rider, this comes with a version of the Q2 and they must have tweaked something as this uses the bluetooth connection.
