Looking through the new Full manual, the definition of Target Time seems to imply that a user entered speed will be used to calculate ETA's for the subsequent waypoint and the overall route end point. If this is the case, then all the ETA's are effectively meaningless. I use a Garmin 296 when flying light aircraft and the 'time to next waypoint' and 'time to destination' fields are constantly updated depending on average speed to date i.e. the airspeed indicator may show 120kts but the groundspeed will be nothing of the sort due to head/tail winds. If I had entered 120kts as a target speed, I may as well turn off all the ETA fields as they will be useless. One thing is certain you will not achieve anywhere near a target speed of say 3mph over rocky terrain (say Cullin Ridge, Tryfan Bristly Ridge etc.). Surely this cannot be how the Active 10 works? Shocked If it is the case, does the software at least apply Naismith's rule?

Does anyone have any experience of this feature, otherwise I guess it will be another phone call to Richard tomorrow.

Thanks

Yep...that's right...and that's why I only bother with Distance To Waypoint or Route End....at least that is meaningful.

A future update should add a good few more selectable speeds at least....but preferably a dynamic ETA like you get on a cheapie Tom Tom satnav.

The RAF must obviously yomp at a constant speed regardless of terrain!! Shocked Laughing
