Went to the Unlock Page to get the price...

I can only buy an unlock for the v9 maps from September 2006
It does state

So, do we have to buy it from the US at $129 then do you use the unlock code that came with your unit or am I misisng something?

In following the link to buy the map update I notice it takes you to the US version of the web site. Would it be better to wait until there's a link to the UK site to buy the update?

Previously (and it seems so this time too) you get the DVD Free from Garmin. Then you buy a new unlock code for your unit (~£50). The unlock that comes with your unit is for the maps supplied when you bought it.
I've ordered the DVD so far. Last time it took over 6 months to arrive and i never got round to buying the upgrade. |

| The link takes you to a website that sells the update at £60 (inc VAT), I assume this has an unlock code with it. How do you get the free DVD from Garmin? I can't see naything other than "Where to buy" which takes you back to the main page. |

I wondered that too...

Logged into My Garmin, click Map Updates, clicked on links that were to do with my registered unit and eventually got to a screen where i could order the DVD. |

| Usually it's from the release date which is 12/01/2007 or 1 December 2007 in English. |

I've connected to the My Garmin page, lgged in and selected by 660. It tells me there is a Map Update avalable (2008 Europe NT) and I can follow this link to get all sorts of info. However when Iclick on the Where to Buy - I get redirected to an old version of the Garmin front page. I suspect that there are a few teething problems here!

I think Garmin have made a very simple job in theory, very complicated.
You should just be able to register your unit, enter your Serial Number, check for the latest maps and order a DVD.
Then go back and buy the code.
Essentially you can do that but in a very long a convoluted way..... |

Totally different view from the website this pm.
I now get a simple buy the update $129.99.
Guess they were rolling it out product by product.
Ok - now I can do this! Looks like this includes the code (or it better had for that price!) It specifically says that for a second unit (eg my wife's 3100) you need to buy a second update.

I didn't have a problem ordering the DVD, and attempting the Unlock function gives me
City Navigator Europe NT 2008, Deluxe All Regions, Aug 07
$75.00 (without tax)
I didn't try approaching the website from the UK end, but I suspect that, as usual, we'll be charged more in £s than the equivalent in $s...!
