I recently added some POIs to the UK maps directory on my Palm T3, and when I go to 'Change Preference:Manage POI:Enable/Disable POI' the category doesn't appear in the list.

I have stacks of working POIs in my Navigator including PGPSW speed cams, some of them getting quite old. Last week I downloaded some POIs from this site, and it seems that many of them don't work for me.

As a specific example I downloaded waitrose.ov2 and waitrose.bmp and copied them to the Navigator UK map directory along with many other .OV2s and .BMPs that work, but when I go to enable the waitrose category it doesn't appear in the list.

I've tried viewing categories that work and don't work in a Hex viewer, but that didn't tell me anything. I tried converting waitrose .ov2 to Garmin delimited .CSV and then back to Tomtom .ov2 using the POIEdit converter, but they still don't show up (I note that when I convert away and back the two ov2s are not identical in a hex viewer.)

Can anyone suggest what I'm doing wrong?

Thank you for any suggestions.

And therein lies the problem I'm afraid, it's the number of POIs you have installed that is the issue. Each version of TomTom has a finite upper limit on the number of POIs that can be installed. When you breach that limit it will then start randomly dropping POIs.

IIRC v5 had a limit of about 40 categories, how many have you installed?

It's not so much what you're doing wrong, as the limitation that the V5 software places on how many Custom POI Categories you can install.

There is a limit of 39 IIRC. Do a quick count of how many OV2 Files you have in the Map Folder.

You might have to remove a few that you don't use much.

Thank you very much, Oldboy.

I knew there was a maximum, but I thought it was in the 80s.

I've reduced the number of POIs and now they work.
