Sad I notice that Dumfries to Paisley is not covered by my Garmin unit. Nor does it seem is any of Ayrshire. My journeys into Glasgow only get coverage once near Paisley. I find that very odd when the radio stations Garmin/Trafficmaster use have coverage in Ayrshire and to the west of Glasgow. Mad So it seems a bit overpriced for the TMC facility. Also I will be stuck on the M8 (notorous) in a 20+ min jam and the device will be incorrect by 2 junctions and only give me a mild yellow colour.

Scotland (and to some degree Wales) come off badly in terms of TMC - there are only a few roads covered by the sensors, and even fewer places you can receive the signal....

Mind you, a third of the M25 has no TMC signal, and the other traffic provider doesn't even have sensors on the whole of the M25, so you are not the only ones to suffer bad / lack of traffic data...

So, what we are concluding is that TMC is only (say) 50% effective as the coverage is so weak. Rolling Eyes

Then I must say this is a little con.

I saw on the Garmin website a coverage map.

https://shop.garmin.com/fmtraffic/select_service_plan.asp?L=EN&CR=2&PR=2

From this all the central area appears covered but I can inform that the first 20 miles from the west coast (from Ayr or Irvine) heading inland are not. Once by Paisley and coverage kicks in the accuracy is suspect.

However, in Germany and Austria it was ace. I don't think Italy was covered incidentally.
