Locking on to TMC information

I have a Navman F30 with the Maplin external Antenna. I find that on some occasions I lock on to TMC information almost immediately after turning on the Navman but on other occasions it takes a number of minutes. Is this because TMC information is only broadcast at certain intervals or is it simply that I am not locking onto a signal. This doesn't appear to be location specific because I get this differential from my home location.

I think you may find that the T1 is scanning! At times you'll notice a lull in the reception esp, if like me you are using the std antenna. Even when the T1 has a lock it will continue to scan to find a better source of TMC.

I do notice though if I had a signal befor turning off the device, I'll get it right back again after turning it on again, but it takes ages if I reset or change somthing in between.
