I can not make up my mind between these two!

I mostly drive and not hike and i know there is 3x+ more battery life in the qstarz but can anyone help me out on this decision?

i live in new jersey and ithas a lot of roads if that has anything to do with the decision - i also like to visit new york and walk my way around with this

I'd go with the Holux. Their is little to separate them performance wise, the considered opinion is the MTK chipset in the QStarz is slightly better than the SiRFStarIII chip in the Holux but Holux is a better known brand with a reputation for quality.

If the price difference is substantial (QStarz cheaper that is) then QStarz, otherwise I'd buy the Holux.

MTK is better at rejecting multipath errors but for auto navigation where almost every package used a lock to road system this is irrelevant. However MTK is a force to be reckoned with and may well usurp SiRF in coming months as it's a cheaper chipset to purchase!

I found this post while looking for info on the Q818

Just posting this to help other people doing the same as the OP.
I am now upgrading from my 236 as the bluetooth let me down until eventually it just broke.
I paid twice as much for the Holux 236.
Just my experiance but you shuld be aware that many people have had the bluetooth prob just search google.

I am probably going to bid on ebay now for the Q818.
