New Streetpilot C550 text problems

I have just upgraded from a C510 to a C550 after having my c510 stolen. I have linked it to my mobile phone via bluetooth and I am able to make and recieve calls. However the text messaging side of things doesn't seem to work correctly. I'm unable to receive or send any.

My phone is a Motorola Razr V3i, which Garmin states is fully compatible with the c550. It has the latest software updates. The Streetpilot is running software version 5.70 and Bluetooth software version 2.80.

Can anybody help with this problem. Is there some sort of secret type bonding i need to do between the two units in order to shunt texts messages between the two.
