TomTom XL / 910


Please can any anyone tell me which is the better buy I can get a TomTom XL or a TomTom 910 for about the same price and I would like to know which is the best out of the two units I will be using it for day trips and safety cams throw out the summer.

If they are the same price I would go for the 910 as you get the Text To Speech and extra mapping let alone the mp3 player etc. The One XL has a slightly larger screen (see the sites home page for a link to the review where my 910 and XL are pictured next to each other) - Mike

I agree, the text to speech functionality in the 910 is invaluable, especially for me.... I prefer hearing where I am going and what street/road etc to take. Saves you actually looking at the screen. The only drawback to the 910 over the XL is the size of the 910 ... oh and of course that docking mechanism.... other than these 2 things, it's a splendid piece of kit IMHO.

By the way, does anyone use the Remote Control with their 910?

The 910 dock is actually a lot easier in use than trying to connect the cables to the bottom of the One XL. The x10 series also offer a greater number of options for connection to external audio, hands free for mobile phone etc.
I do use the remote control quite often as it is safer to use that then reaching out to tap the screen, its also easier in use this way IMHO - Mike
