How can get Destinator to work on Sony NV-U50? I've installed it but I cannot get a GPS signal. Any ideas on how I can get Destinator to read the Sony GPS signals? Cheers

Which version of destinator did you installed?You must have destinator 6 version for pna like the one for tibo.I hope that your device have gps in nmea protocol.If so,i think that i can help you.Find in the destinator folder the file with name destinator.ini.Open it to your pc.You will see in some point these lines:
PORT=1
BAUD_RATE=38400
PROTOCOL=2
these are the gps port,baudrate of gps and nmea protocol.Open sony navigation software and look if you can find the port and baudrate of the gps antenna.If not you must put possible values.
At the beginning try 2/4800/2 and open destinator to see if recognizes gps antenna.If not you must try other values.
from com1 until com 9 are the ports. and the baudrate is 4800/9600/19200/38400/57600/115200

Thank you for your reply bbkoz,

I do have Destinator 6 installed, I checked prefs.ini in the NAV-U folder and is:

[gps]
comport = 5
receiver = 2
baudrate = 9600
receiver_status = 1
ExtTmcPort = 7

Then I changed destinator.ini settings to:

PORT=5
BAUD_RATE=9600
PROTOCOL=2

Still nothing.
When I am in map I get Waiting for GPS signal.
When I go to Settings/GPS signal I get a number of satellites but no Lat,Lon, Speed or Alt.
Then in Set I do a Search GPS and I get GPS Antenna connected in COM5,
9600,NMEA.

It should work but it doesn't, something else is missing maybe a .dll or something?

This is ok.There is nothing else you can do.The first time you open destinator,you must be in clear sky and wait a lot of time to download the newspaper satellite.

I'm not sure which version I use. Is it possible to get a PDA version to work on a PNA?

Hello guys!

So glad I found this forum... The supplied NV-Uxx software sucks so bad!

Is there a guide as to how to install the Destinator software/maps? I've found a TomTom one elsewhere on this forum, but I don't have a TomTom package...

Cheers

Hello!

Anyone who still reads this?

I am failing even at the first step - I copy regedit to the startup folder, but Navteq's software just loads up like nothing has changed... Sad

Cheers
