Insurance for PDA's and Radars?

I am looking to get insurance seperate to house insurance and car for radar and pda, I admit don't always take them out of car as a lot to carry.

Is there a cheap insurance company?

I'm not aware of a company, but most insurance companies have separate departments or parts of the company that do bespoke insurance. I insure my camera gear for in-car and out of car use, and for at home (on top of house and contents insurance) and this is with a separate camera insurance company, but beware you can find it a lot more expensive than just adding them as large additions to your house and contents insurance.

These private insurances also do in most cases require a factory fitted car alarm, and like for camera insurance will only insure you if the gear is kept in a locked and secure boot which cannot be gained access to from other parts of the vehicle (and items are not on show), and in most cases you won't be insured if they are left overnight in a car, or the car is left in a public place.

Maybe these clauses are just because of the value I'm insuring, but there are so many small print clauses, you really have to read it before taking out the insurance. To cover for leaving in the car in a public place for 5 hours added like 20% to the premium for me and I still couldn't get overnight cover.....Crazy!
